Southland Soca Festival
PRESENTATIONS:
The Festival will present six module
competitions:
1. Sweet Soca Flavours: This is
a culinary competition to attract unique taste and
presentation. Two (2) groups of five persons
selected from each of the targeted counties will be
invited to compete for prizes.
2. Dance De
Soca Competition: This is an open dance competition
that will allow groups not exceeding12 persons to
register. The competition will permit each group to
have a lead soca singer. The competition will permit
each group to perform for a maximum of five minutes
their presentations.
3. Groovy Soca
Competition: This is a seed that will be nurtured
and marketed as a new niche in Soca. It will be an
open Soca competition that is identified by rhythmic
beats between 80 – 115 rpm. The imaging of this
niche suggests that Groovy Soca will be attracted to
a wide range of positive human-interest themes.
4. Sassy Soca Fashions: With the advent of
an increasing number of All Inclusive fetes fashions
are becoming more identifiable in distinctive style.
Is this a new trend? Sassy Soca Fashions will be an
open competition for males and females in the
Southland.
5. Super Soca Rankers: Semi-Final
Stage (ISM) Competition: Thirty Semi-Finalists will
compete for final placement.
6. National
Schools Soca Monarch: The semi-final stage of this
competition where semi-finalists are vying to wrest
the crown away from the reigning Monarch.
Other Exciting Activities: Face & Body Painting,
DJs’ Mix Down.
