for his high energy, fast paced and often
unpredictable on-stage performances, this dynamic
lead vocalist of the highly acclaimed party band,
the Swinging Stars Orchestra, has proven himself as
an all-rounded artist – vocalist, drummer, composer,
motivational speaker and entertainment coach.
Daddy Chess
was known as the ‘Soca Man’ of Dominica, until he
stormed the calypso scene and copped the title of
Calypso Monarch and Stardom Calypso King of the Tent
in 2001, with the inspirational hit, “Your Destiny
Depends on You”. With that, he became a walking
message for the youth, performing and mentoring in
schools all over the island.
From then
onward, Daddy Chess took the world by storm,
performing in London, United States, including New
York, New Jersey, Miami, Houston and Atlanta, and
the entire Caribbean, including the Virgin Islands,
St. Lucia, Trinidad, Barbados and Antigua.
During his
14 year career, he has been able to capture the
title of Road March King (2008), Stardom King of the
Tent (2001 and 2008), Soca Monarch (2008) and
Calypso Monarch (2001) and most recently Soca
Monarch 2009.
With that
said, Daddy Chess has earned his place as a true
magnate, an artist who has truly made Dominica
proud.
His achievements are fueled by
his every day motto and message to all aspiring
artists, “The greatest person you can ever be is
yourself”.
